During the press briefing, the President spoke highly of the partnership between his country and China, stating that the partnership has been very deep, meaningful, and effective.

He also said that his country has greatly benefited from the partnership. He spoke highly of the China-South Africa partnership, saying they have a strategic relationship.

The president also said that China was very helpful to South Africa during the critical period of COVID-19. China helped the country by supplying Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and offering financial support.

Moreover, he said China helped the entire African continent through the Africa Medical Supplies Platform. The Africa Medical Platform was launched by the African Union. The goal of this platform was to solve the production shortages in Africa’s fight against the Pandemic.

The Platform with China’s support facilitates the massive price reduction for PPE. This price reduction is in terms of masks, sanitizers, ventilators, and several other medical supplies.

Furthermore, Ramaphosa said, “a number of other countries want to join in BRICS speaks volumes about the confidence that many of the other countries are having in BRICS.”

Previously, the President had also spoken at this year’s BRICS Leaders’ Meeting. He had stated his expectations from the summit to carry out a proper survey of the geopolitical situation in the world. This will help in assessing how well BRICS nations can continue with their programs of facilitating development and multilateral system in the world.

In addition, the country is also anticipating the support and progress of the BRICS vaccination center in the country. Therefore, it looks forward to the strengthening and expansion of trade among the BRICS countries.
