Nur-Sultan, 25 August 2022 (TDI): The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Roman Vassilenko, met with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Slovak Republic, Robert Kirnag, on Wednesday.
Deputy Foreign Minister Vassilenko received copies of his credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador of Slovakia and wished him success in his work.

During the meeting, both the diplomats noted that the relations between Kazakhstan and Slovakia are now almost 30 years old.
They also noted that the cooperation between the countries during this time was characterized by close political dialogue and mutual understanding.
Both the diplomats talked about the prospect of development of cooperation with a focus on expanding mutually beneficial trade and investment and transactions.
Likewise, the two sides also agreed to further develop and enhance cultural and humanitarian partnerships. They also agreed to reach the full potential of bilateral relations with close interactions.
The newly appointed Slovak Ambassador thanked the Deputy Foreign Minister for the warm welcome and clarified his intentions that he is ready to make all efforts to develop bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Kazakhstan-Slovakia Relations
The diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in January 1993. In 2005, the Embassy of Slovakia was opened in Nur-Sultan (previously Astana), and then in December 2019, the Embassy of Kazakhstan opened in Bratislava.
In 2021, despite the pandemic, the volume of trade between the two countries increased by 21% and stood at $84 million ($69.4 million in 2020).
At the international level, Slovakia has supported the accession of Kazakhstan to the Council of Europe conventions in the field of criminal justice and the fight against corruption.
Slovakia also supported Kazakhstan’s candidacy for a non-permanent member position at UN Security Council for 2017-18.
