San Salvador, 31 August 2022 (TDI): The Government of El Salvador recognized the diplomatic work of Tariq Al-Othman Fakhroo, Charge d’Affaires of the State of Qatar to El Salvador.

A ceremony was organized by the Foreign Ministry of El Salvador to honor the contributions of the Qatari envoy. Alexandra Hill, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador, highlighted the contributions of Envoy Fakhroo during her speech.

Foreign Minister Hill said, “During his tenure as Chargé d’Affaires, he demonstrated his commitment to work with the Government of El Salvador to support national development.

He did so, through the strengthening of political-diplomatic, cooperation, and economic relations, for the benefit of both peoples. For all this, the Government of President Nayib Bukele is deeply grateful”.

Chancellor Hill of El Salvador further said, “It contributed to the strengthening of bilateral relations, cooperation, and business, thanks to the different initiatives and efforts in favor of national development”.

The Salvadoran Foreign Minister also highlighted the Qatari Envoy’s support to the Salvadoran Government in different high-level meetings in Qatar.

She also commended Envoy’s support during the visit of the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Ahmad Hassan Al-Hammadi, in June.

The Foreign Minister of Salvador then presented the Medal of Diplomatic Merit “Dr. José Gustavo Guerrero”, in the silver category, to Tariq Al-Othman Fakhroo.

During the ceremony, the top Salvadoran diplomat also thanked the Qatari official for his support during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the Asian nation provided medical supplies and food packages to public hospitals in El Salvador.

While highlighting the Qatari Envoy’s work, Foreign Minister Hill recognized the work and organization for the visit of the Executive Director of Qatar Terminals, Neville Bissette, with the purpose of establishing future investments and development projects.

During her speech, Minister Hill also talked about the advances in the bilateral relationship, cooperation, and brotherhood between the people of the two countries.

She also referred to the signing of a Cultural Collaboration Agreement which focused on strengthening bilateral efforts and collaboration.

Some of the dignitaries present during the ceremony included, Félix Ulloa, Vice President of El Salvador, Oscar Alberto Jerez, the President of the Supreme Court of Justice, and some other high-ranking government officials.
