Hong Kong, 1 July 2022 (TDI): The inaugural ceremony of the 6th term Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government was held on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to China.

The ceremony was held in the morning at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. President Xi Jinping with his wife Peng Liyuan was also present at the occasion.

Around 1,300 guests were present at the event. It included high-level officials from different institutes.

President Xi swore in Chief Executive John Lee and also the Principle Officials. Then the Chief Executive swore in members of the Executive Council. After that, the President delivered an address.

The new Chief Executive gave his speech at the ceremony. He extended his gratitude to the people of Hong Kong and the Central People’s Government for putting their trust in him.

He mentioned that his team is ready to build an inclusive and caring Hong Kong. The Chief Executive also wished to create new development opportunities and fill the region with hope and vibrancy.

The new Chief Executive also hoped to overcome the problems and challenges coming ahead. He said that together they will build a better Hong Kong.

They will contribute to Hong Kong’s long-term stability and prosperity. Also, they will help to achieve China’s dream of national rejuvenation.

Just after the inaugural ceremony, President Xi Jinping met the new Chief Executive HKSAR John Lee. He also met with members of the executive, judiciary, and legislature.

President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan concluded their visit to Hong Kong around noon. He arrived on 30 June for his historic visit to Hong Kong.
