Karachi, Pakistan – Ethiopia officially inaugurated its Tourism Pavilion at the Pakistan Travel Mart (PTM) 2025 in Karachi, showcasing Ethiopia’s rich cultural heritage, tourism potential, and traditional hospitality.
The event was graced by the presence of the Governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, and Syed Zulfiqar Shah, Sindh’s Minister for Culture, Tourism, Antiquities, and Archives.

Upon his arrival at the Ethiopian Pavilion, Muhammad, Governor of Sindh, was warmly welcomed by Ibrahim K. Tawab, Honorary Consul of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Karachi, along with the Ethiopian Embassy’s staff.
The Governor officially opened the Ethiopian Traditional Coffee Ceremony, a revered cultural tradition symbolizing Ethiopia’s hospitality and rich coffee heritage.
Pakistan Travel Mart (PTM) 2025
During his visit, the Governor was briefed about Ethiopia’s tourism industry, highlighting the country’s UNESCO heritage sites, diverse landscapes, and historical landmarks. Discussions also revolved around strengthening tourism cooperation between Ethiopia and Pakistan.

Earlier Syed Zulfiqar Shah, Sindh’s Minister for Culture, Tourism, Antiquities, and Archives, formally inaugurated the Ethiopian Tourism Pavilion at PTM 2025. Ibrahim K. Tawab and the Embassy staff also received him, who provided insights into Ethiopia’s cultural significance and tourism attractions.
During the inauguration, the Minister emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy in fostering bilateral tourism exchanges between Ethiopia and Pakistan. He praised Ethiopia’s rich cultural history, breathtaking landscapes, and the world-renowned Ethiopian coffee culture, which has gained international recognition.

In recent years, diplomatic exchanges have increased, highlighted by the visit of Ethiopian officials to Pakistan and the growing presence of Pakistani businesses in Ethiopia’s booming trade and investment sectors.
The opening of Ethiopia’s first-ever embassy in Islamabad in 2022 marked a significant milestone, enhancing diplomatic engagement and paving the way for deeper cooperation in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and education.
The two countries are expected to finalize a bilateral trade agreement, with Ethiopia exploring Pakistani expertise in manufacturing, textiles, and IT services. At the same time, Pakistan looks to expand its exports to Ethiopia in rice, pharmaceuticals, and engineering goods.
Furthermore, the cultural and tourism exchange between the two nations is growing, with Ethiopia actively promoting tourism opportunities to Pakistani travelers, emphasizing its rich heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and world-renowned coffee industry.
