Islamabad (TDI): The first-ever Silk Road Culture Centre (SRCC) has been inaugurated at Sir Syed Memorial Hall Islamabad.
Ambassadors and diplomats of the Silk Road countries, including China, Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan, attended the event. Their embassies set up beautiful stalls to showcase heritage, culture, art and cuisines.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal was the chief guest on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Iqbal said Silk Road Culture Centre was a landmark initiative, which marks a new chapter in cultural exchange.
“The initiative reflects the true spirit of solidarity, diversity, and mutual respect,” the minister said, adding that it will become a symbol of cooperation and shared heritage in the near future.
“It will promote international collaboration and highlight the legacy of the historic Silk Road, inspiring future generations to embrace inclusivity and shared human values”, he said.
He said the government appreciates such private sector initiatives aimed at fostering harmony, development, collaboration, and shared goals.
Speaking on the occasion, Naveed Akhtar, the Executive Director of Strategy for Zong, highlighted the shared heritage of Pakistan and Silk Road countries.
“The Silk Road symbolizes connection, exchange, and understanding, showcasing how cultures unite to create something greater. This center bridges traditions celebrates shared values, and strengthens ties. Zong proudly supports this initiative, believing progress comes from both innovation and cultural integration, fostering a brighter future for all,” he added.

For his part, the Chairman of the SRCC, Jamal Shah, thanked ambassadors and diplomats from participating countries for their support in making this initiative possible by contributing artworks, cultural artefacts, and other items for display at the SRCC.
These contributions not only enriched the event but also beautifully showcased the diverse cultural heritage of the Silk Road nations, he said.
“With your invaluable contributions, this centre has become a vibrant space for cultural exchange, reflection, and learning,” he added.
