Secretary General of OTS called on Azerbaijan Foreign Minister

Baku, 8 February 2022 (TDI): On 7 February, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Baghdad Amreyev. The two sides exchanged views on the Istanbul Summit, passing remarks on its impact. In addition, they discussed the framework of the OTS and the current affairs taking place in the Turkic sphere.

REMARKS OF MINISTER BAYRAMOV 

The meeting began on a pleasant note. The Azerbaijani Minister explained that the alliance with OTS was of remarkable significance to the Government of Azerbaijan. It greatly valued cooperative projects with the organization. Bayramov also added that the strengthening of both parties’ relations is vital.

Minister Bayramov briefed his correspondent on the ongoing regional conflict surrounding Armenia. In relation to this, the Minister described the ways in which work was being carried out to restore infrastructure and reconstruct affected territories.

Bayramov utilized this occasion to request the assistance of the OTS and its member states in infrastructure development in the region.

SECRETARY-GENERAL STATEMENTS

The Secretary-General, on the other hand, underscored that Azerbaijan had been an active contributor within the Organization of Turkic States. He specifically mentioned how the country had played a role in strengthening the multifaceted relations in the OTS framework.

Furthermore, he explained to his interlocutor OTS’ ongoing efforts to prepare the relevant documents in order to establish ‘Turkic Vision – 2040’. This is a strategic document constituting the set framework that is to be followed to strengthen cooperation between Turkic-speaking countries for the next 20 years.

Amreyev also briefed how the Secretariat is working to establish the Turkic Investment Fund.
Moreover, the two leaders shared details on future actions. They discussed plans to host high-level exchanges between both parties in the coming years. In addition to that, they also touched upon other issues of mutual interest.
