Riyadh, 27 October 2021 (TDI): Deputy Minister for Political and Economic Affairs Amb. Eid Al-Taqafi, met the EU‘s Special Envoy for the Middle East Peace Process Mr. Sven Koopmans. They reviewed details of cooperation between the Kingdom and the European Union, and discussed regional and international affairs.
For the countries, by building this strong economic relationship, they will go beyond economics and widen the scope of the interaction. In this way, the partnership will become more strategic, also on regional issues and global challenges.
The European Union Representative stated, “There are unprecedented reforms underway in Saudi Arabia and we support this modernization drive that we welcome very much”. As well, the European Union and the Kingdom are ready to resume negotiations of a modern, comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with the Gulf Cooperation Council.
In this context, the JCPOA was also a matter of discussion. Both officials agreed on the prospects of restarting Vienna talks about the Nuclear Deal with Iran.
In synthesis, the meeting showed the importance of regional cooperation, in addition to robust and dynamic bilateral relations between them, which can only bring benefits to the regions and people.
