Iran and the European Union agree to meet

Teheran, 13 October 2021 (TDI): Iran’s Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh has announced that European Union Foreign Policy Chief Enrique Mora will visit the country on Thursday.

At the meeting, they will discuss bilateral issues, Afghanistan, and the negotiations for the lifting of the illegal sanctions against Iran.

The objective of the EU continues to be the full implementation of The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Commonly called Iran’s Nuclear Deal. Therefore, the resumption of the discussions in Vienna is a key priority.

IAEA inspectors are currently servicing the identified equipment and replacing its storage media in Iran. However, the implementation of the JCPOA is still pending.

Although the parties reaffirmed the spirit of cooperation, the Spokesperson of Iran has mentioned that the country intends to return to Vienna as soon as its internal review process is completed.

Without preconditions, Iran’s main goal is to ensure that the talks secure its rights, including sufficient guarantees that the United States will actually stick to the deal this time.

On the other hand, he stressed Iran’s commitment to dialogue and diplomacy as the only way forward. The Iranian authorities consider that Iran plays a constructive role in peace and stability in the region.
