Dubai, 28 December 2021 (TDI): On the margins of the Sir Baniyas Forum, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Nhayan.

During the meeting, they discussed ways of enhancing mutual cooperation in all fields. Therefore, this would reflect on the welfare of the two peoples. In addition, the officials exchanged points of view on regional and international developments.

The Foreign Minister of Iraq commented on the outcomes of the elections and the developments of the political process in the country. As well, the chronological and constitutional schedule to form the upcoming government and the ongoing political movement in the country.

On the other hand, UAE Foreign Minister advised his Iraqi counterpart on construction, economy, and its ability to create a role model in the region. He has also emphasized Iraq’s need to receive support to accelerate construction and investment.

Iraq-UAE strategic partnership

The bilateral relationship is a result of the significant quality of relations with the Arab and Gulf environment on one hand, and bilateral relations on the other hand. UAE’s Foreign Minister commended the efforts of the Iraqi government in spite of the short period of assuming its duties. His Highness has mentioned that the UAE would like to build a strong and stable Iraq politically and a prosperous one economically in the region.

The 9th session of the UAE-Iraq Joint Cooperation Committee concluded today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Abu Dhabi (2017).

Moreover, the countries share an emotional tie between the Iraqi and Emirati peoples. The country appreciates Iraqis and extends its thanks for their participation in the construction of the UAE ever since it was founded.

Both countries are working towards continuing to complete enhancing relationships with Arab, regional, and international environments. Hence, this will help and continue to enhance bilateral cooperation.

The Emirati Minister has also affirmed the importance of encouraging the private sector and revitalizing the commercial exchange. The countries and pertinent bodies are working on wide prospects for coordination and cooperation based on the benefits of both countries.
