Saudi King urges international community to halt brutal crimes in Gaza

Riyadh, 11 March 2024 (TDI): Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz has urged the international community to halt “brutal crimes” in Gaza and assume its responsibility towards the people of Palestine.

The message has been delivered, on behalf of the King, by the Minister of Media Salman Al-Dosari in a speech congratulating the entire Muslim Ummah on the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan.

Heinous crimes in Gaza demand international intervention

“Our hearts are heavy with sorrow for the ongoing suffering of our Palestinian brothers facing relentless aggression,” he lamented.

The King has underscored the horrible circumstances faced by the people of Gaza establishing the urgency of providing humanitarian and relief corridors.

“We call on the international community to uphold its responsibilities to put an end to these barbaric crimes and ensure the establishment of safe humanitarian and relief corridors.”

Against the backdrop of massive starvation and the ongoing Israeli offensive in Gaza, he expressed his extreme sorrow for the Palestinians. “It saddens us that the blessed month of Ramadan arrives amidst the suffering of our brothers in Palestine,” he further reiterated.

Recently, the Ministry of Health in Gaza shared the mounting death toll as a result of the deliberately created famine by Israel. It has expressed grave concerns regarding water shortage that may lead to dehydration and further loss of life.

Previously, similar sentiments have been echoed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman condemning the targeting of civilians as a “brutal assault” in October 2023 and demanding their immediate protection.

“Birds of Goodness” operation

In parallel, the operation “Birds of Goodness” has been initiated marking the first day of Ramadan. The Joint Operations Command of the Ministry of Defence, UAE has announced the completion of the eighth round of humanitarian and relief aid airdrop on the Gaza Strip.

The operation which is jointly conducted by UAE Air Force and the Egyptian Air Force shall stretch for several weeks commemorating their support for the people of Gaza. Moreover, it showcases Arab solidarity for the cause of Palestine.
