Dhaka, 16 March 2022 (TDI): Prince Faisal bin Farhan al Saud, the foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia visited Bangladesh on Tuesday evening. He arrived in Dhaka from Nepal on a brief visit. Abdul Momen, the foreign Minister of Bangladesh received the Saudi foreign minister at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Moreover, According to the Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh, foreign minister Momen invited Prince Faisal to visit Dhaka. Minister Momen hosts a dinner at a city hotel in honour of the Saudi Foreign Minister.

Schedule of Visit

Foreign Minister will hold a one-on-one meeting with his Saudi counterpart on Wednesday at Hotel Sonargaon. Afterwards, they will have a high-level political consultation at the same venue. According to some officials, the two countries will be signing a Memorandum of Understanding after the meeting.

Further, Salman Fazlur Rahman, Bangladesh Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser will be hosting lunch in honour of the guest. The Saudi Minister is scheduled to meet the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, on Wednesday afternoon before his departure to Gulf State.

Moreover, Minister will also be taking part virtually in the foundation stone laying ceremony of an Arabic Language Institute in Keraniganj. Bangladesh Foreign minister, Abdul Momen, will see him off at the airport.

 Scheduled Discussion for the Meeting

Some major issues will be discussed in the meeting, according to officials. Likewise, those issues include passports for Rohingya refugees in Saudi Arabia, Saudi Investment in Bangladesh, and other bilateral issues.

Also, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia signed  MoU on military cooperation back in 2019. The Official would discuss the enhancement of that cooperation.

According to Mashfi Binte Shams, secretary to foreign affairs, Bangladesh wants investment from Saudi Arabia.
