Islamabad, 24 August 2023 (TDI): Today, Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed al Maliki met with the Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbass Jilani in Islamabad.
The Ambassador congratulated the Foreign Minister for assuming the Foreign Office and also conveyed best wishes on behalf of the Saudi leadership.
During the meeting, they discussed the firm bilateral ties between the two nations, with special emphasis on trade & investment.
The two nations established their diplomatic relations in September 1947, shortly after Pakistan gained its independence. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share a strong, exclusive and strategic bond, marked by religious affinity, historical relations and pragmatism.
When it comes to commerce & investment, the trade volume between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia reached $4.6 billion in 2022, diversifying their trade portfolio including plastics, textiles, coffee, and tea.
In addition, Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed al Maliki underlined the Kingdom’s desire to further expand bilateral economic cooperation during his meeting with Federal Minister for Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar, earlier this year in January.
Saudi Arabia has proved an all-weather friend, aiding Pakistan in rescuing its economy on multiple occasions.
Recently, the Kingdom provided $2 billion in financial support to Pakistan’s central bank, helping the country to boost its economy after an IMF bailout.

Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki has been serving as the Saudi Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan since September 2017.
Under his charismatic leadership, the relations between Islamabad and Riyadh have been experiencing a positive trend in all diplomatic domains including economic, political, cultural and strategic cooperation.
