Rwandan Environment Minister at Pre Conference of Parties 26

Milan, 1 October 2021 (TDI): Mujawamariya Jeanne d’Arc, the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Rwanda, discussed Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and various aspects of Conference of Parties 26 (Cop-26) with the CoP-26 President Alok Sharma, the US Special Envoy for Climate Change John Kerry, and Russia’s head of Delegation.

The concept of Pre-CoP is to bring together the Climate and Energy Ministers of some selected states to discuss the ways and means to address climate change and work for a clean and green environment. 

The purpose of these talks was to discuss the outstanding areas around the common time frame of reporting on the NDCs framework and how to efficiently implement them to combat climate change. Along with it, the Minister and the delegates also talked about the efforts of their respective countries to keep global temperature below 1.5C. 

Lastly, the meeting concluded with discussions about the various aspects of the Conference of Parties 26 negotiations.
