New York, 25 September 2021 (TDI): The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov meets Officials of various countries. These meetings took place on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The Russian Foreign Minister held a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Algeria, Ramtane Lamamra. The Ministers discussed priority steps to promote Russia-Algeria relations. They exchanged views on pressing issues of the global and regional agenda that includes Syria, Libya, and the Western Sahara settlement. Both parties highlighted the importance of resolving conflicts exclusively on the basis of principles of International law.
Sergey Lavrov also had a conversation with the Foreign Minister of Thailand, Don Pramudwinai. The Ministers discussed the priorities of Russia-Thailand cooperation. They discussed the promotion of political dialogue, the expansion of trade, and cultural ties. Also, the joint efforts to counter the COVID-19 pandemic.
Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud. Both sides discussed in detail the priorities in the progressive development of the Russian-Saudi mutually beneficial relations. Both parties paid much attention to strengthening coordination between Moscow and Riyadh. Also, including the state of affairs in Yemen, Syria, and the Gulf area.
Furthermore, the Russian Foreign Minister had a meeting with the President of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades. They discussed the current state of Russian-Cypriot relations in a variety of areas. They exchanged views on the Cyprus settlement. Lavrov reaffirmed Russia’s favor of achieving a fair, viable, and comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem within the existing international legal framework.
Sergey Lavrov also had a conversation with French Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian. The Ministers had an in-depth discussion on current international issues with a focus on the developments in Afghanistan. Moreover, reaffirmed to promote peace through joint efforts at the UN Security Council.
Both sides exchanged opinions on the settlement agenda in Libya. The Ministers gave detailed consideration to promote Russian-French ties in politics, economy, culture, and the humanitarian sphere.
