Kampala, 14 July 2023 (TDI): Ambassador Vladlen Semivolos, the Russian Ambassador to Uganda, gave an interview to Nelson Kiva and Mary Kansiime, journalists from the leading Ugandan newspaper New Vision, on July 12.
The interview covered a wide range of topics, including Russian-Ugandan relations. The Ambassador also talked about the preparations for the Second “Russia-Africa” Summit. He also shed light on the current state of the global economy.
In the interview, Ambassador Semivolos said that Russian-Ugandan relations are at a high level. He noted that the two countries have a long history of cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, education, and culture.
In addition, Russia is committed to further deepening its cooperation with Uganda, said Ambassador Semivolos.
The Ambassador spoke about the preparations for the Second “Russia-Africa” Summit. This summit which will be held in Sochi, Russia, in October 2023.
Moreover, the summit will be an opportunity for Russia and Africa to discuss ways to strengthen their cooperation. The areas of cooperation will be wide-ranging.
Furthermore, Ambassador Semivolos also shared his insights on the current state of the global economy. He shed light on the various challenges it currently faces. These challenges encompass a range of issues, such as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine, and the persistent issue of rising inflation.
Despite the severity of these challenges, Ambassador Semivolos conveyed a sense of optimism, asserting his belief that the global economy will ultimately rebound from these setbacks.
