Mr. Wang Yi commented on this on Sunday at a reception event that marked the 20th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation.
Mr. Wang Yi said that China and Russia should support multilateralism, oppose hegemony and power politics, boycott any new Cold War or clique confrontation, and continue to safeguard the international system. He said both sides should boost mutual political trust, expand exchanges of all levels, reinforce the continued strategic collaborations, and jointly safeguard both countries’ core interests to elevate the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era to a higher level.
The Foreign Minister also appreciated the relations between the two countries which he believes are not allies but much more than that.
He added that the two countries will also further promote the alignment of BRI with the Eurasian Economic Union and expand cooperation in various fields while also praising the surge in the Sino-Russian bilateral trade.
The Russian Ambassador to China, Mr.
Andrey Denisov also attended the event.
Mr. Denisov commended the treaty that has laid a solid foundation for the stable development of the bilateral relations and helped bring the Sino-Russian comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination to the highest level ever. He said that both states will stick to the spirit of the treaty and work together to meet the goals set up by the extension of the treaty by the two presidents.
