Russia and China needs to work together to uphold multilateralism and oppose hegemony, says China’s FM


Beijing:  12 July 2021 (TDI)- The Foreign Minister of China and the State Councilor  Wang Yi said both China and Russia need to jointly uphold multilateralism and oppose hegemony.

Mr. Wang Yi commented on this on Sunday at a reception event that marked the 20th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation.

Mr. Wang Yi said that China and Russia should support multilateralism, oppose hegemony and power politics, boycott any new Cold War or clique confrontation, and continue to safeguard the international system. He said both sides should boost mutual political trust, expand exchanges of all levels, reinforce the continued strategic collaborations, and jointly safeguard both countries’ core interests to elevate the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era to a higher level.

The Foreign Minister also appreciated the relations between the two countries which he believes are not allies but much more than that.

He added that the two countries will also further promote the alignment of BRI with the Eurasian Economic Union and expand cooperation in various fields while also praising the surge in the Sino-Russian bilateral trade.
