Ankara, 18 December 2023 (TDI): Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the latest situation in Gaza with his UAE counterpart Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Friday over the phone, where Israeli attacks since October 7 have killed more than 18,700 Palestinians.
According to a statement by the Turkish Communications Directorate, during the call between the Presidents of Turkey and UAE, Israel’s attacks on Gaza, efforts to establish a permanent ceasefire, and Turkey’s efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians and ensure peace were discussed.
Erdogan emphasized the importance of acting decisively to end Israeli attacks immediately and establish a long-term cease-fire in Gaza.
“President Erdogan stressed that it is important to immediately stop Israel and to determinedly maintain the steps aimed at ensuring lasting peace,” According to the statement released by the Presidency.
Moreover, the leaders also talked about Turkey’s efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestine and looked into ways to encourage long-term peace in the Gaza Strip.
President Erdogan said it is important to stop Israel, and maintain efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire.
Erdogan also underscored the need for full implementation of the decisions made at the joint summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League in order to guarantee peace in the region, as well as the continuation of initiatives aimed at strengthening international support for Palestine in a “spirit of unity.”

Israel has bombarded Gaza from the air and land, imposed a siege, and mounted a ground offensive following a cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7.
According to Palestinian health authorities in Gaza, the Israeli bombardment has resulted in at least 18,800 Palestinian deaths and 51,000 injuries.
