Islamabad, 22 September 2021 (TDI): On the eve of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the Pakistani Foreign Minister met with Portuguese Foreign Minister Augusto Santos Silva.
Regional peace in South Asia was the primacy of the meeting between the two Foreign Ministers. The Pakistani FM provided evidence of Indian violations of human rights in the Indian illegal occupied Kashmir. The dossier also contained information about the provocative steps taken by the Indian government to change the demography of the illegal occupied Kashmir.
Happy to meet Portuguese FM #AugustoSantosSilva on the sidelines of #UNGA to discuss our bilateral cooperation and relationship in context to the EU. We look forward to strengthening our association through regular high level interactions and exchanges. 🇵🇰 🇵🇹 pic.twitter.com/K3kWPojLrE

European Parliamentarians believe that Kashmir can disturb not only the peace and stability of the region but it can also affect the world. They have been raising voices for the Kashmiris. The parliamentarians want the EU to use its leverage to mediate the conflict of Kashmir.
Since Portugal is also a member of the EU thus by providing evidence can help Pakistan to strengthen its case at the global level.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi also emphasized the importance of regional stability which depends upon a peaceful and stable Afghanistan. An unstable Afghanistan can be a threat to regional security.
The American withdrawal of Afghanistan without any political solution has left the region vulnerable and since then the regional actors have been worried about the peace of the region.
Moreover, bilateral as well as international cooperation was also the focal point of the meeting between both leading diplomats of their countries.
