Pakistan felicitates Malta on its Independence Day

Islamabad, 22 September 2021 (TDI): Pakistan and Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry Public Diplomacy congratulates Malta on the occasion of its Independence Day.

Malta declared its independence on 21 September 1964 from Britain and the start of its island nation’s parliamentary democracy. From early 1800s, Malta had been under the British rule. It became a republic in 1974, until then British Monarch remained the head of state for Malta. Over 90% Maltese population is Roman Catholic.

Pakistan and Malta established diplomatic relations in 1966. Pakistan and Malta’s relations are determined by their historical and bilateral ties. Both countries share high-level communications for enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Moreover, Malta is gateway to European Union for many Pakistani entrepreneurs. on the other hand, Pakistan gives access to business interests of Maltese in Asia.
