Port Qasim Handles 2,511 tons Exports in 24 Hours

KARACHI (TDI): In the last 24 hours, 130,569 tonnes imports cargo and 2,511 tonnes export cargo were handled at Port Qasim.

The larger volume of exports is reflecting the overall performance of the economy in terms of the imports and exports.

The cargos carried in 515 Containers (508 TEUs Imports and 07 TEUs Export) was handled at the port during the last 24 hours.

Four ships, Maersk Durban, ATN Unity, Kition-M and Milaha Ras Laffan carrying Container, Palm Kernel, Gas oil and LNG,berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi-Purpose Terminal-2, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Pakistan Gas Port Consortium Terminal respectively till the report was filed.

While three more ships, Atlantic Ibis, MSC Maeva and Al-Deebal are also arrived at outer anchorage port Tuesday.

A total of nine ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them a edible oil carrier ‘Corona’ left the port this morning.

Meanwhile four more ships, Atlantic Ibis, Roberta, Sapphire-X and Milaha Raslaffan are expected to sail on the same day.

Ships, MSC Maeva, Atlantic Ibis, Bentley and Al-Deebal and another bulk cargo carrier ‘Scarable’ are carrying Container of Palm oil, LNG and Coal are expected to take berths at QICT, LCT, EETL and PIBT respectively today.

Three more container ships, Maersk Cape Town, SSL Brahmaputra and Cap Andreas are due to arrive at port on Wednesday.

According to the data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics in August, Pakistan’s merchandise exports rose by 10.54 percent, to 30.64 billion dollars, in financial year 2023-24.

The imports fell 0.84 percent ( 54.73 billion dollars) in fiscal year 2023-24.
