PMSA conducts Exercise BARRACUDA-XI

Karachi, 13 January 2022 (TDI): Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) organized Exercise BARRACUDA-XI from 11-13 January 2022. 16 Foreign Observers from 13 countries, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Turkey, Australia, Azerbaijan, Japan, South Korea, Maldives, Bangladesh, Bahrain, France, Saudi Arabia, and the US took part in the Exercise.

The opening ceremony of the Exercise BARRACUDA-XI was held by PMSA. The sea phase of the naval exercise was conducted today on 13 January 2022 in the morning.

All units of the sea and air stakeholders including Pakistan Navy (PN), PMSA, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Port Qasim Authority (PQA), and CENERGYCO proceeded to sea in the specified area with the Foreign Observers.

During the Exercise, the participants displayed complex maneuvers along with laying out counter oil spill gear at sea so as to display contingency response to such a disaster.

A Search & Rescue Exercise followed the sequence in which assets and personnel from PMSA, PAF, PN, and Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) participated. Lastly, an impressive Skim Past by ships and a Flypast by air units were conducted.

Mahmood Baqi Moulvi, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Maritime Affair attended the occasion as Chief Guest. He boarded Pakistan Maritime Security Ship (PMSS) KOLACHI to review all the proceedings as well as drills.

In the end, a media brief of the Exercise was conducted onboard PMSS KOLACHI. Media personnel were briefed about the objectives and various aspects of the exercise.

The Chief Guest and the Foreign Observers commended the professionalism and skills displayed by PN, PMSA, and all civil and military stakeholders of the Exercise.
