Philippines, US Congress to build deep ties

Washington DC, 2 October 2021 (TDI): Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Philippines, Teodoro Locsin held a meeting with Congress members of the United States on 30 September 2021 to strengthen the bilateral relations to cope with the emerging challenges in the near future.

The three main representatives of U.S. Congress Jose Manuel Romualdez, Senator James Risch, and Steve Chabot attended a meeting with Secretary Licson of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines to enhance bilateral collaboration between two countries with the aim to build equivalent diplomatic relations.

In the meeting, Philippines Foreign Affairs Secretary Licson appreciated the United States government for taking urgent measures regarding the COVID-19 vaccine to the Philippines. He also expressed his gratitude toward more donations of vaccines and the COVAX facility which has been provided to the Philippines people. 

Furthermore, United States Congress members highly acknowledge the full support of the Philippine government towards the United States and be an everlasting ally of America. Both countries are determined to play their critical role in the peace and security of the Indo-Pacific region.
