Beijing, 29 January 2022 (TDI): During a press conference, the spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry of China, Zhao Lijian stated that China is pleased to notice the progress in the domestic situation of Ethiopia.
The remarks were made by the spokesperson in response to a question pertaining to the adoption of a resolution by the federal government of Ethiopia on January 26 to end the state of emergency ahead of its expiration.

Zhao Lijian further enunciated that China consistently believes that the people of Ethiopia have the wisdom as well as the capability to manage their internal affairs well.
Moreover, China staunchly supports relevant players in the country to resolve differences via dialogue and negotiation for achieving a lasting ceasefire along with reconciliation at an early date.
What’s more, China has been playing a constructive and positive role to establish peace and stability in the region of the Horn of Africa. Earlier, State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China, Wang Yi also put forward the Initiative of Peaceful Development in the Horn of Africa.
This happened during his visit to the African continent. The initiative won a positive response from the regional countries including Ethiopia. China is keen to persist in working with all the relevant parties for a sense of lasting peace, development as well as prosperity in the region.
Ethiopia, Africa’s second-most populous country is amidst an increasingly rocky situation owing to the violence perpetrated by the TPLA insurgents.
Earlier, last year, in November the government of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed declared a nationwide emergency to manage the deteriorating situation.
