Ramallah, 16 March 2024 (TDI): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine has issued a stern response to recent statements made by Yoav Gallant, the Minister of Defense of Israel, regarding the use of American weapons and humanitarian aid in Palestinian territories.

The Ministry expressed deep concern over the ongoing escalation of mass slaughter carried out by Israeli forces against Palestinian civilians, resulting in numerous casualties, including women and children.

It is pertinent to note that in a sardonic gesture at the request of the United States (US) administration, Gallant signed a pledge purportedly committing to refrain from using American weapons to target civilians and to increase humanitarian aid to Palestinians.

This pledge comes amidst a backdrop of tragic events, including the Kuwait Roundabout massacre and the bombing of the Tabatibi family’s home in Nuseirat, both of which resulted in significant loss of life.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine questioned the sincerity of Gallant’s pledge, citing the continued atrocities committed by Israeli forces against innocent civilians.

Moreover, the recent bombing incidents and the deprivation of necessities such as food, water, and medicine underscore the urgent need for international intervention to protect Palestinian lives.

In this vein, Palestine called upon the international community to cease all forms of cooperation that tacitly support the annihilation and displacement of the Palestinian people.

It urged a shift from symbolic gestures to tangible actions that hold Israel accountable for its actions under international law.

With Palestinian civilians enduring ongoing genocide and facing dire humanitarian crises, the Ministry emphasized the necessity of a binding United Nations (UN) resolution to compel Israel to cease its genocidal acts, safeguard civilian lives, and ensure access to essential humanitarian assistance.

It must be noted that the Palestinian people have endured immense suffering for far too long, and the international community must take decisive steps to end the cycle of violence and protect the rights and dignity of all Palestinians.
