Jerusalem, 15 March 2024 (TDI): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine vehemently denounced all actions taken by the Israeli occupation in Jerusalem as a whole and in the area surrounding the hallowed Al-Aqsa Mosque to hinder the entry of worshippers.

This includes the installation of iron barriers on three of the mosque’s doors to further alter historical and legal reality.

Furthermore, there is a political presence inside the Holy Mosque, which is a clear violation of international law, as well as the obligations of occupying powers towards places of worship and the freedom of citizens to visit them.

Additionally, there is a persistent attack on the authority of the Jerusalem Endowments Administration and the affairs of the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Jerusalem Endowments Administration and the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Endowments, Islamic Affairs & Holy Sanctities, is the only body with the authority to oversee the management of the Holy Mosque.

In this vein, the Ministry of Palestine demanded immediate international action to halt the occupation’s serious violations of international law, pertinent UN legitimacy resolutions as well as Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian sanctities.

It must be noted that the grounds of Al-Aqsa Mosque have been targeted by the occupation, particularly during Ramadan in recent years.

The Al-Aqsa compound is located on a plateau in East Jerusalem that Israel seized in a move that was not widely acknowledged by the international community after capturing it in the 1967 Six-Day War.

The complex is home to the third-holiest place in Islam, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the Dome of the Rock, a seventh-century building thought to be the location of Prophet Muhammad’s ascension into paradise.

The area known to Jews as Temple Mount is also where they believe the biblical Jewish temples originally stood.
