Gaza, 6 August 2022 (TDI): The State of Palestine strongly condemns the premeditated assault by Israel on the Palestinian people in Gaza.

It emphasizes that Israel’s continued aggression, including its recent assault on Gaza and the ongoing illegal siege of the Strip, violates every tenet of international law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention and United Nations resolutions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Palestine urged the international community, particularly the Security Council and High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention, to take immediate action.

Israel’s military aggression against the defenseless Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory must be put to an end instantly to save human lives.

It was further stated by the Palestinian Foreign Ministry that the lack of international accountability encourages Israel, to continue committing grave international crimes against the Palestinian people.

Israel is a colonial occupying power that infringes on their human rights and causes widespread death, injury, and destruction.

Moreover, the Security Council’s inability to provide protection, in particular, has led Israel to believe that it can kill Palestinians, including children, at will, and that it can do so without consequence.

Along these lines, it was stated that the priority right now is to put an end to Israel’s killing and destruction campaign. At the same time, the exceptional treatment of Israel; the colonial occupying power, must end.

This exceptionalism and application of double standards has only increased its impunity and allowed for unrelenting killing and destruction, shattering the international system’s credibility.

Rogue states, such as Israel, should not be applauded or appeased by the international community because they disregard international law. They must be condemned and held accountable for their crimes.
