Ankara, 29 May 2023 (TDI): The President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi, tweeted to congratulate Recep Tayyip Erdogan, reelected President of Turkiye. He praised Erdogan’s leadership skills in his tweet and highlighted the friendly bilateral relations between Pakistan and Turkey.

This tweet was made after the victory of Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a run-off against his opponent, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. The second round of the election was held yesterday because any of the candidates were unable to secure 50% of the votes in the first round.

Erdogan assumed the position of Turkey’s Prime Minister for the first time in 2003, serving in that role until 2014, after which he transitioned to the position of President, where he continues to serve to this day.

Turkey suffered from the devastating effects of earthquakes recently, which have left scars on the country’s economy, but Pakistan’s role during these difficult times was instrumental in helping to alleviate some of the suffering.

President Alvi said in his tweet that the re-election of Erdogan as President reflects the trust of the people in him. He further added that Pakistan and Turkey have always stood with each other in good and bad times, and he is confident that these brotherly relations between both nations will foster more effectively under the leadership of Erdogan.

Pakistan and Turkey also share cultural and religious bonds. Both countries have a rich Islamic heritage, and their people have a deep appreciation for their shared traditions.

The two nations have collaborated on various projects, including infrastructure development, defense cooperation, and joint military exercises.

Turkiye has also been a key ally for Pakistan in the international community, supporting its stance on issues such as Kashmir and Palestine.

The re-election of Erdogan as President is expected to further strengthen the ties between Pakistan and Turkey and promote regional stability.
