Islamabad, 20 April 2023 (TDI): The Embassy of Turkiye in Pakistan hosted an iftar in honor of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Rescue Teams of Pakistan. The purpose of this event was to acknowledge the indispensable services provided by these teams during the recent earthquake in Turkiye.

The earthquake, which occurred on 19 April 2023, was a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that caused extensive damage in the eastern region of Turkiye. The NDMA and Rescue Teams of Pakistan were among the first to respond to the disaster, offering their expertise and assistance to help the affected communities.

Their selfless efforts and solidarity with the people of Turkiye were greatly appreciated by the Turkish government and its people.

The Iftar, which was held at the Turkish Embassy in Islamabad, was attended by senior officials from the NDMA and the Rescue Teams of Pakistan, as well as representatives from the Turkish government. During the event, the Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan expressed his gratitude to the Pakistani teams for their invaluable support during the earthquake.

The Ambassador stated that despite the difficulties, the friendship between Pakistan and Turkey has grown stronger. He emphasized that the Turkiye people were appreciative of the solidarity and assistance shown by their Pakistani brothers and sisters.

The Ambassador also commended Pakistan’s NDMA and Rescue Teams for their quick and effective response to the disaster. He claimed that their efforts helped save lives and lessen the suffering of the affected communities.

The representatives of Pakistan’s NDMA and Rescue Teams expressed their gratitude to the Turkish government for hosting them and giving them the chance to exchange experiences with Turkish colleagues. They also reaffirmed their dedication to Pakistan and Turkiye’s long-standing friendship and brotherhood.

The event was concluded with a special prayer for the earthquake victims as well as for the two brotherly nations’ ongoing friendship and cooperation.
