Pakistan’s Letter to UN Demands Justice for Kashmiris

United Nations (TDI): Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, met with UN Security Council President Eloy Alfaro de Alba on Tuesday and handed over an official letter from Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, spotlighting India’s ongoing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The letter delivery marked the sixth anniversary of India’s controversial and unilateral decision on August 5, 2019, to revoke the special constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir, an action Pakistan maintains is illegal under international law.

In the communication, the Deputy PM called on the 15-member Security Council to play its mandated role in ensuring the implementation of its own resolutions on the decades-old dispute.

The letter urges the Council to support efforts toward a just, peaceful, and lasting solution that aligns with both the UN Charter and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, according to a press release from Pakistan’s Mission to the UN.
