Nairobi, 5 June 2023 (TDI): High Commissioner of Pakistan engaged at the UN-HABITAT Assembly’s sideline event “Affordable Living and Adequate Housing for All.”
The second session of the United Nations Habitat Assembly was held from 5 to 9 June 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya. The theme of the session was “A sustainable urban future through Inclusive and effective multilateralism: achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Times of global crises.”
In this event High Commissioner of Pakistan highlighted Pakistan’s vulnerability to floods, climate change, and urbanization, emphasizing reasonable access to affordable housing as well.
The High Commissioner of Pakistan spoke at UN-Habitat Assembly to emphasize the importance of affordable living and adequate housing for all.
He highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to providing affordable housing solutions. He also called for international partnerships to achieve these goals.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the global agenda of sustainable urban development and inclusive housing policies.
During the event, he discussed the country’s risk of floods and the effects of climate change. He pointed out the significance of making ensure everyone, under any situation, they can afford to live somewhere.

According to him, it is critical to help those who are most affected by these issues, particularly those who are already struggling. He urged help and collaboration from other countries in order to ensure that everyone has a safe and affordable place to live.
Furthermore, he also appreciates the Malaysian housing program as Malaysia is constantly looking for new solutions to handle the rapid rise of urban development and is also ready to adopt the latest techniques to reduce its environmental consequences.
