Madrid, 11 January 2022 (TDI): On Tuesday Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi departed from Bucharest and arrived in Spain, at the invitation given by his Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albares Bueno, himself.

The agenda of the official visit included holding meetings with not only the Foreign Minister of Spain but also various other Ministers and Spanish Parliament Members.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi held talks with the President of Congress of Deputies of Spain as well. During the session multiple think tanks were present and various points pertaining to mutual interest were discussed.

Pakistan’s improvement and consistent hard work in meeting the action plans of FATF were highlighted during the meeting. The commendable support that was given by Spain to Pakistan for GSP Plus status in the European Union (EU) was also acknowledged.
Special recognition was given to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan and how the support of the international community in times of such a crisis cannot be sidelined. Here again, Spain’s donations and efforts for the cause were appreciated.
These meetings will further deepen the relations between the two partner countries. Not only these meetings but last year i.e. 2021s’, Pakistan and Spain’s diplomatic relationship establishments’ 70th-anniversary celebrations are proof of good diplomatic ties between the two partners. Furthermore, the visit will boost the ties inevitably.
