Kabul, 29 August 2022 (TDI): The Ambassador of Pakistan to Afghanistan, Mansoor Ali Khan, hosted his farewell reception at the Embassy of Pakistan, Kabul.
He expressed his gratitude to all the Afghan guests and his team including the personnel and Consul Generals of the Embassy for attending the reception. Mansoor Ali Khan became the Ambassador of Pakistan to Afghanistan in June 2020.

He is a Pakistani diplomat who has previously served as the ambassador of Pakistan to Austria. He also served as Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations in Vienna from 2018 to 2020.
His last act of duty was calling on Afghanistan’s Acting Minister of Refugees & Repatriation Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani. Firstly, they discussed the collaboration between the two countries. Secondly, they discussed the pertaining issue of Afghan refugees in Pakistan.

Pakistan and Afghanistan ties
The two nations have had a tense relationship since Pakistan’s establishment on Afghanistan’s eastern border in August 1947. Afghanistan was the only nation to vote against Pakistan’s admission to the UN after the latter’s independence.
Throughout the middle of the 20th century, territorial issues and competing claims kept relations between the two nations intense. Additional tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have emerged on a number of issues. Those issues include the conflict in Afghanistan and Afghan refugees in Pakistan, and water-sharing rights.
In contemporary times, situations have changed and are moving towards betterment. The key principles of Pakistan’s policy towards Afghanistan include strengthening people-to-people contacts, deepening trade, and working for peace in Afghanistan. Moreover, the policy also provides non-interference in internal affairs and does not allow respective territories to be used against each other.
The foreign policy of Pakistan involves building close cooperative relations with Afghanistan. It is a significant portion of the “peaceful neighborhood” vision of Pakistan. Pakistan has also participated in all the international forums geared toward bringing peace and stability to Afghanistan.
