Pakistan to Achieve $25b IT Export Target Soon: Minister

Islamabad (TDI): Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has expressed hope that Pakistan will soon achieve an ambitious 25 billion dollars export target as the government is taking concrete steps for advancing the IT sector.

She was addressing an event, led and organized by the Consulate General of Pakistan in Los Angeles that was  supported by the Ministry of IT and Telecom, Ministry of Commerce, Pakistan Software Export Board, and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan as well as local partners included OPEN-SV and the Pakistan-American Tech Council based in California.

In her keynote address to the event at the Stanford University, Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja reiterated government’s commitment for revamping IT sector

She highlighted strategic initiatives fostering an investor-friendly environment, urging the diaspora to seize these opportunities. She said Pakistan’s IT sector is thriving, with exports already exceeding three billion dollars.

Earlier, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh inaugurated the conference, marking a pivotal moment for Pakistan’s IT sector with an initial commitment of over 20 million dollars by American companies led by Pakistani-American entrepreneurs, state-run broadcaster, Radio Pakistan, added.

The conference reportedly drew a broad range of participants, including IT firms, venture capitalists, successful tech professionals, and notable members of the Pakistani diaspora. Elected and government officials dignitaries and members of media also attended.

Addressing the conference, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh spoke about Pakistan’s geo-strategic environment, stressing its cost-effectiveness and competitive quality in the IT sector.

He described the nation’s youthful, skilled, and resilient population as a vital driver of growth, supported by government policies designed to harness this demographic dividend and transform it into a sustainable economic asset.

The Ambassador invited American investors to explore Pakistan’s vibrant market and called on the Pakistani-American tech community to act as a bridge for deeper economic collaboration.

He also spoke on common misconceptions, reaffirming Pakistan’s reputation as a flourishing investment destination, also recognized by at global level.
