Doha, 3 May 2023 (TDI): Pakistan State Minister Hina Rabbani Khar met with the Special Representatives of China, the United States, and Russia on the sidelines of the Meeting of Special Envoys on Afghanistan in Qatar.
The meeting’s purpose was to discuss the current situation in Afghanistan, notably since the Taliban seized control of the country. Afghans’ standard of living has substantially declined due to the country’s current economic position.
During the meeting, Hina Rabbani stressed the essential role of the international community in collaborating to alleviate the economic hardship of the Afghan people. She underlined that the Afghan people are going through a difficult moment. She urged the international community to step forward and assist them in any manner possible.
State Minister emphasized the need to build a suitable climate for economic growth in Afghanistan, which would provide job opportunities and improve people’s standard of living conditions. According to her, maintaining peace and prosperity in the region depends on economic growth and stability.
During her meeting with China’s Special Diplomat for Afghanistan, Yue Xiaoyong, Hina addressed the significance of China contributing to Afghanistan’s economic development. She acknowledged China’s involvement in the peace process. She advised them to continue their endeavors.
Minister Khar discussed the significance of ongoing economic support to Afghanistan at her appointment with the US Special Envoy for Afghanistan Peace, Thomas West. She commended the United States for its assistance and encouraged it to maintain investing in Afghanistan’s economy.

Hina highlighted Russia’s need to support Afghanistan’s economic development during her conversation with Zamir Kabulov, the Russian Special Representative for Afghanistan. She acknowledged Russia’s assistance in maintaining peace and urged them to continue their efforts.
State Minister highlighted the value of Afghanistan’s economic development for regional peace and stability. She also underscored the essence of implementing immediate measures to solve this issue and stop a humanitarian catastrophe.
According to Minister Hina, economic instability and poverty frequently result in conflict and instability. Therefore, resolving these concerns can help create a more harmonious and prosperous region.
She argued that the international community is responsible for supporting and assisting the Afghan people through this terrible period and striving to find a future solution to the current crisis.
