Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan has dispatched another consignment of humanitarian assistance for Palestinians in Gaza, sending 100 tonnes of tents as part of its ongoing relief efforts, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Monday.

The latest shipment marks the 28th relief consignment sent by Pakistan since the Israel-Hamas conflict began on October 7, 2023. With this delivery, the total volume of humanitarian aid provided by Pakistan has reached 2,727 tonnes.

According to the NDMA, the consignment was prepared with the support of the Alkhidmat Foundation and transported via a special flight from Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore to El Arish International Airport in Egypt, from where it will be forwarded to Gaza.

Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin attended the dispatch ceremony as a special guest, alongside officials from the NDMA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Pakistan began sending humanitarian assistance to Gaza on October 19, 2023, just days after Israeli bombardment of the territory began. The aid has included medicines, tents and other essential supplies for civilians affected by the conflict.

Gaza remained under siege for much of the conflict until a ceasefire was reached in October 2025. Despite the truce, humanitarian needs in the enclave remain severe due to widespread destruction and displacement.

Meanwhile, activists associated with the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), whose aid mission was intercepted by Israel in September 2025, announced last week that they plan to make another attempt this year. Organisers said the next mission could involve around 100 boats carrying up to 1,000 medical workers.

Israel, which controls access to the Gaza Strip, has denied blocking humanitarian supplies for its population of around two million.

On September 27, 2025, Israeli drones struck the GSF as it approached Gaza. The flotilla included participants from more than 40 countries, including Pakistan, and was carrying humanitarian items such as food, water, baby formula and medicines for displaced and injured civilians.

According to Palestinian health authorities, Israel’s military campaign over nearly two years has killed more than 71,000 Palestinians, displaced the majority of Gaza’s population and caused extensive destruction across the territory.

The scale of the humanitarian crisis has drawn sharp international criticism, with rights groups such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, as well as UN experts, describing the situation as a genocide, a characterization Israel has rejected.
