Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that Pakistan is keen to enhance cooperation with China in the fields of space technology, satellite communications, and internet services.
During a meeting with a delegation from the Chinese space technology company Galaxy Space, headed by Chairman Xu Ming, prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing cooperation with China in space and telecommunications.
He described China as a “very trusted friend” and “strategic partner,” emphasizing Islamabad’s focus on developing its space and telecommunication infrastructure.
The Chinese delegation showed keen interest in investing in Pakistan’s space sector and exploring joint ventures with SUPARCO and local telecom firms.
They also met with Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication’s officials.

Federal ministers Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Ahad Khan Cheema and Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr Tauqir Shah were also present in the meeting.
In 2024, Pakistan marked a milestone in space exploration by launching its first lunar satellite in collaboration with China. The ICUBE-Q CubeSat, developed by the Institute of Space Technology with support from SUPARCO and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, successfully entered lunar orbit aboard China’s Chang’e-6 mission.

The 7 kilogram satellite carried cameras and sensors for imaging and deep-space communication.
