Pakistan Rejects India’s Kashmir Claims as Baseless

Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan has firmly dismissed recent remarks by India’s External Affairs Ministry on Jammu and Kashmir, declaring New Delhi’s claims “null and void” under international law.

During his weekly media briefing in Islamabad on Friday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan India’s position, stating that the classification of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) as a “union territory” carries no legal legitimacy.

He reaffirmed that Jammu and Kashmir remains a “disputed territory” recognised by the UN, and its final status must be determined “in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.”

Responding to a query, Khan said Islamabad had taken note of Indian external affairs minister’s remarks which are baseless accusations against Pakistan.

He termed the statement part of a recurring pattern and condemned the Indian leadership’s tendency to repeatedly invoke Pakistan in their personal narratives, calling it a reflection of their obsessive fixation.

Khan also criticized the minister’s statement that he did not wish to spend “precious time in Pakistan,” terming it “especially ironic.”

Rejecting what he called New Delhi’s “continued diatribe” on terrorism, the spokesperson said: “India’s wrong narrative of being a victim cannot divert global attention from its miserable human rights record and its own involvement in terrorism.”

He urged New Delhi to halt its “baseless claims” and urged it to concentrate on ending the 77-year-long forcible occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.
