Islamabad, 9 September 2022 (TDI): Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, President Arif Alvi, and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari offered condolences to Britain over Queen’s demise. Queen Elizabeth II, United Kingdom’s longest-reigning monarch, and the nation’s figurehead for seven decades, died on Thursday aged 96.

Message from the Prime Minister

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, the head of government of the second most populous country in the Commonwealth of former British colonies took to Twitter to express his sorrow.

He said that Pakistan joins the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth nations in mourning the Queen’s death. Additionally, he has also written a condolence letter to British Prime Minister Elizabeth Truss expressing grief over the death of the Queen.

As per the condolence letter, the Prime Minister has expressed gratitude for the late Queen’s efforts to harmonize the Commonwealth of Nations. He said that Pakistan feels immense respect and honor for the late Queen.

Subsequently, he extended sympathies of the entire Pakistani nation to the British royal family, the government, and the people of the United Kingdom.

Message from the President

President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, also joined other world leaders in sending condolences to the royal family and the people of the United Kingdom.

He conveyed his condolences to the royal family, government, and Britain’s people over Queen Elizabeth’s demise.  Additionally, the President in his message said the death of the Queen has created a great void that will not be filled for long.

 Moreover, he said that her inspiring leadership qualities propelled her to the status of a great and beneficent ruler that would be remembered in golden words in the annals of world history.

Message from the Foreign Minister

The Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, issued a similar statement offering his condolences over Queen’s demise. He said that she personified an era and embodied hope and compassion.
