ISLAMABAD, (TDI): Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Privatisation, and Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, met with Azerbaijan’s Minister for Economy, Mikayal Jabbarov, in Baku to explore new avenues for economic collaboration.
The two leaders engaged in discussions covering a broad range of issues, with a strong focus on investment opportunities.
Aleem Khan extended an invitation to the Azerbaijani government to participate in the privatisation of several prominent state-owned enterprises in Pakistan.
These include Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Utility Stores Corporation, Zarai Taraqiati Bank, and a number of electricity distribution companies (DISCOs), among others.
The Federal Minister underscored the potential for expanding trade between the two countries and highlighted key sectors ripe for Azerbaijani investment. These include LNG, renewable energy, IT, telecommunications, agriculture, and broader energy infrastructure.

In a further bid to deepen ties, Khan also proposed that Azerbaijan join Pakistan in developing the Karachi-Sukkur Motorway (M6), a vital infrastructure project that connects the country’s economic hub with the port city, providing a critical transport link for trade and commerce.
Minister Jabbarov expressed his satisfaction with the recent launch of direct flights between Pakistan and Baku, which have led to a noticeable increase in tourism between the two nations.
He extended a warm welcome to Khan and assured him of Azerbaijan’s full support in enhancing bilateral economic and trade relations.

Both leaders acknowledged the longstanding, brotherly relations between their countries and reiterated their commitment to furthering this partnership.
With talks centered on increased cooperation and investment, they expressed optimism that their collaboration would continue to grow, benefiting both nations in the years ahead.
