Ottawa, 23 September 2021 (TDI): Pakistan High Commission in Canada organized a webinar on Wednesday entitled, “Prospects of stability in Afghanistan and its implications for the region and the world.” The speakers maintained that the world must help Afghanistan stand on its feet and avert the humanitarian crisis facing Kabul.
During the session, the speakers advised the international community to step forward and help the people of Afghanistan, besides remaining engaged with the Taliban government to avert humanitarian crisis in the country. The webinar emphasized preserving investments of the international community for the rights of children, women, healthcare, and education in Kabul. The respective speakers maintained that the world must help Afghanistan instead of ‘abandoning’ it while suggesting that the international community should make efforts to build an inclusive government in Kabul for the sake of maintaining peace and stability across the region.
The webinar was hosted by Consul General of Pakistan Toronto Abdul Hameed. Several distinguished speakers attended the session, including Pakistan’s High Commissioner-Designate to Canada Ameer Khurram Rathore, Director-General of Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhary, acclaimed author and journalist Eric Margolis, Canadian broadcaster Phil Taylor, and Director Canadian Council for Justice and Peace Dr. Zafar Bangash.
