Beijing, 26 August 2024 (TDI): Commercial Counsellor at the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing Ghulam Qadir has said that Pakistan will participate in the eighth Silk Road International Exhibition as the guest of honor, scheduled to be held in Xi’an, Shaanxi, from September 20 to 24.
He underlined the close exchanges between Pakistan and Shaanxi in recent years across different fields.
Ghulam Qadir noted that during a visit to Xi’an in early June this year, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed a strong willingness to deepen exchanges with Shaanxi in fields such as agriculture, trade, economy, energy, education, and sister city relationships, with bilateral economic cooperation serving as the focal point.
He stressed that Pakistan’s participation as the guest of honor at the Silk Expo will considerably contribute to promoting pragmatic cooperation between the two sides in different sectors.
He added that a large delegation from Pakistan will attend the expo, showcasing a wide array of Pakistani products to further strengthen relations and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
The Eighth Silk Road International Exposition and the Investment and Trade Forum for Cooperation between East and West China will be organized in Xi’an, capital of Northwest China’s Shaanxi province. The expo’s them is Deepening Connectivity, Expanding Economic and Trade Cooperation.
It will arrange eight economic and trade exchange activities, including the opening ceremony, activities with guest nations and provinces, contract inking ceremonies, and outcome releases.
Utilizing a hybrid format of online and offline exhibitions, the event will consist of 5 exhibition areas covering 72,000 square meters. These will focus on global cooperation, inter-provincial cooperation, advanced manufacturing, transportation and logistics, and modern energy.
The global cooperation exhibition will showcase resources, industries, and trade collaborations with nations involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, Central Asian countries, and international sister cities.

The inter-provincial cooperation exhibition will underline regional exchanges, while the transportation and logistics exhibition will spotlight Shaanxi’s connectivity via the China-Europe freight train.
The advanced manufacturing exhibition will feature major industries like new energy vehicles and solar energy, displaying innovative products and applications.
The modern energy exhibition will present key projects and technological advancements in the energy sector.
