Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan has planned to utilize Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to assist the country in addressing its environmental issues by enhancing usage of clean energy sources.
During his two-day visit to Iran for ECO meeting next week, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will sign the Charter for ECO Clean Energy Center.
According to officials, the agreement will serve purpose to address energy security, energy access for productive uses and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
It would also help in building up the diverse and resilient energy architecture in the country.

Besides talks on clean energy projects in Pakistan with the ECO, his visit is mainly aims to strengthen ties at the ECO level for promoting goal of regional development and connectivity.
In his address at the 28th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), the Deputy Prime Minister is expected to reiterate Pakistan’s commitment to the ECO charter and highlight the potential of greater connectivity in the region through development of rail and road networks, liberalization of visa regimes and simplification of border procedures.

Ishaq Dar will also reiterate Pakistan’s concerns over hostilities in the Middle East, endangering the regional peace and security.
The Deputy Prime Minister will hold meetings with participating ministers and other dignitaries on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting.
