London, 18 September 2023 (TDI): Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani chaired the 10th Commonwealth Youth Ministers’ Meeting (CWYMM) in London from 12-15 September 2023.
For the first time in 30 years, Pakistan presided over a Commonwealth event.
As part of the Commonwealth’s celebration of 2023 as the “Year of Youth,” the summit featured Youth Ministers from more than 45 Commonwealth nations.
Moreover, the Foreign Minister, who presided over the CWYMM, highlighted the Commonwealth’s role in establishing young participation in the global sustainable development agenda.
He continued by saying that the Commonwealth’s youth, who made up 60% of the population, were by far its greatest asset.
Although, the panelists also discussed how important it is to provide young people opportunity so they may reach their full potential.
Furthermore, the Foreign Minister described the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, the government of Pakistan’s flagship youth project that has completed 10 years, to the participants.
According to the Foreign Minister, this programme closely complies with the goals outlined in the Commonwealth Youth Programmes four Es’—Engagement, Education, Employment, and Environment.
By designating projects worth PKR 80 billion and making explicit pledges under each of the 4Es, the Government of Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to youth development for the current fiscal year.
Although, the Foreign Minister met privately with the Youth Ministers of Sri Lanka, Rwanda, Jamaica, and Samoa as well as the secretary general of the Commonwealth at the concurrent world Youth Ministers conference.
The Foreign Minister also went to events hosted by the Pakistan High Commission in London, the Mayor of London, and the Secretary General of the Commonwealth.
At the CWYMM place, traditional Truck Art motorcycles and blue ceramics presented a stunning exhibition of Pakistan’s brilliant shades and outstanding themes, which the participants found to be quite pleasing.

The Commonwealth holds a special place in Pakistan’s heart, and the country is dedicated to maintaining strong ties with it.
At the end, the attendees praised the Foreign Minister for effectively presiding over the 10th Commonwealth Youth Ministers’ conference.
