Islamabad, 24 May 2023 (TDI): Ambassador of Tajikistan Ismatullo Nasredin met with Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Commerce and Industry, Rana Ihsan Afzal Khan, to further already strong ties between the two countries. Asif Noor, Director of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS), also attended the meeting, emphasizing the significance of this collaboration.

The meeting signaled a new age of collaboration and mutual prosperity in the Pakistan and Tajikistan relationship, which has been steadily expanding. The geographical significance of Tajikistan as the Gateway to Central Asia through the Wakhan Corridor positions it as a crucial link between East and West. This unique location holds tremendous potential to enhance connectivity, trade, and cultural exchange, ultimately facilitating the development of the entire Eurasian region.

The session between Envoy Nasredin and Premier Coordinator Khan underscored both nations’ shared vision and commitment to advancing their strategic relationship. The conversations mainly focused on the revolutionary Central Asia-South Asia power project (CASA-1000), an architectural wonder that will give Pakistan and Tajikistan’s goals new life.

Years of cooperation on the CASA-1000 project between Pakistan and Tajikistan now speak volumes. The project strives to harness the power of renewable energy by creating a transmission network that will enable the export of surplus electricity from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan and Afghanistan.

This audacious endeavor will enhance energy security in the region and foster economic integration and connectivity, opening new avenues for trade and investment and remodeling the fabric of their collective destiny.

Diplomat Nasredin and Premier Coordinator Khan complimented the current level of bilateral strategic relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
