Minsk, 10 November 2021 (TDI): The Ambassador of Pakistan to Belarus, Sajjad Haider Khan, was present at the opening ceremony of the 27th International Specialized Wholesale Trade Fair (PRODEXPO). The Fair is also known as PRODEXPO2021, and it started on 9 November.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Alexander Subbotin, inaugurated the Fair. Among the assistants was the Minister of Agriculture of Belarus and Diplomatic Corps members. Government officials and business representatives also were present at the opening ceremony.

Khan and Subbotin had a brief conversation, where Khan briefed Subbotin about some aspects of the Pakistan-Belarus diplomatic relations. Both discussed the current activities and collaborations between their countries in trade and education.

Khan highlighted the importance of exchanges between delegations and joint efforts to achieve better results. The Ambassador highlighted this importance by referring to the participation of Belarusian businesspersons in the Trade Exhibition in Karachi. The Trade Exhibition will be from 16 to 18 November.

PRODEXPO BACKGROUND

PRODEXPO is one flagship project in Belarus, and its the landmark event for the food industry. It is a platform that demonstrates the food industry development trends. The Fair represents a wide range of food products, beverages, production, and processing equipment, commercial and also refrigeration equipment.

PRODEXPO also presents packaging services through the PRODEXPOPACK salon. It will pay special attention to ECO-Packaging. The Fair has different activities planned like a Business Forum, Baker’s Symposium, and the International Culinary Cup.

END OF THE FAIR, AND GOVERNMENT SUPPORT. 

The PRODEXPO started yesterday and will continue until 12 November. The National Exhibition Centre will hold the Fair. The Council of Ministers of Belarus supports the project with the Ministry of Agriculture.

The Belarusian State of Concern of food Industry, and Minsk City Executive Committee, and the Belorussian Union of Cooperation, also support and cooperate in the PRODEXPO.

PAKISTAN-BELARUS RELATIONS 

Both countries established diplomatic relations in 1994. The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, visited Pakistan for the first time in 2015. In the same year, the Prime Minister of Belarus also organized a visit to Pakistan. Belarus then opened an Embassy in Islamabad in 2014.
