Prague, 7 April 2022 (TDI): Ambassador to the Czech Republic Muhammad K Jamali met the deputy foreign minister Martin Tlapa on Wednesday to discuss their views on the matters relating to the contemporary political and security situations of the region. They also talked about the bilateral relations between Pakistan and the Czech Republic.

Pakistan deems its relationship with the Czech Republic to be very valuable. This was noticed on several occasions and wishes to strengthen them further through people-to-people and legislative interactions. The Czech Republic likewise reciprocated their efforts as well.

The Czech Republic is optimistic that the Pakistani government’s efforts would assist improve the country’s socio-economic conditions; and has pledged his country’s full cooperation in this respect. 

Czechoslovakia established diplomatic ties with Pakistan on September 27, 1950, and the Czech Republic reestablished them in 1991. Since then, the Czech Republic has had an embassy in Islamabad, and Pakistan maintains an embassy in Prague.

Portugal and Pakistan have had a long-standing connection. The two countries have long maintained a connection and cooperation based on the cordiality, hospitality, and openness that both peoples exude. 

MILITARY COOPERATION AND FUTURE RELATIONS

Moreover, in terms of military relations, the potential to improve defense connections between Pakistan and the Czech Republic are in several areas; with defense industrial cooperation, exercises, and bilateral training exchanges being among the most important.

The Czech Republic is one of the few countries with which Pakistan might potentially engage in a meaningful and beneficial manner; despite being a mild trading partner.

Both countries have expressed their desire to improve bilateral connections; including economic and commercial, cultural, scientific and technological, and people-to-people contacts, by using this potential.

The two countries share a unique history of friendly relations over the past years. Both the countries are looking forward to further enhancement of the bilateral relations of the countries.
