Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belarus meets businesspersons

Minsk, 7 April 2022 (TDI): Sajjad Haider Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belarus, welcomed a business group led by Oleg Chesalov, Deputy Chairman of Belarus’s Liberal Democratic Party on Thursday. The meeting was organized by Zamad Khan, a Belarusian national of Pakistani descent and it was attended by Dmitry Dashkevich, Albin Mironovich, and Dmitry Lasitsa, businesspersons representing the sectors of construction, agricultural & heavy machinery, and textile industries, respectively.

The Ambassador gave a briefing to the participants on Pakistan-Belarus bilateral ties and the recent advances in a variety of engagements. He emphasized Pakistan’s strengths as a rising market of more than 220 million people and its geographical advantage, which makes it an excellent location for commerce and investment.

Following that, the delegation was given a tour of the Mission’s “Emerging Pakistan Display Centre,” where they were introduced to a variety of Pakistani exportable products such as textiles, rice, surgical instruments, sports products, cutlery, salt, brass items, and spices, among many others. A walk-around tour of the gallery with a photo gallery of Pakistan also educated them about the rich Pakistani culture, national history, and tourist potential.

Pakistan-Belarus relations:

Pakistan-Belarus relations pertain to the present and historical relationship between Belarus and Pakistan. Pakistan was one of the first nations to recognize Belarus following the disintegration of the Soviet Union in 1991. Pakistan has an embassy in Minsk, whereas Belarus has an embassy in Islamabad. Pakistan and Belarus signed a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to deepen their varied connections, notably in trade, business, education, and culture.

Belarus and Pakistan also have good economic relations. The two countries have established joint ventures in the textile, pharmaceutical, and lighting solution industries while exchanging technological knowledge. Belarus has praised Pakistan’s role and efforts in ensuring international peace and stability by combating terrorism and has pledged his country’s complete assistance in this struggle.
