Karachi, 20 November 2021 (TDI): Pak-Thai Friendship Association & Business Forum and Royal Thai Consulate-General co-organized a charity walk in Karachi. The Royal Thai Embassy team joined the walk along with the Thai Community and Thai Students in Pakistan.
The charity walk activity was organized to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Pak-Thai relations. The walk also raised money for local charity purposes.
70 Years of Diplomatic Ties
Thailand and Pakistan celebrate the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations this year. The two partners are committed to further promoting ties in an array of fields; economic, defense, education, diplomatic.
The bilateral ties between the two are anchored in understanding, mutual confidence, and cooperation. The enduring ties spanning seven decades, between the two continue to steadily flourish.
Defense Rapport
Recently, the two countries also signed a memorandum of understanding on defense that includes various aspects of cooperation. Both countries have close rapport amongst their senior military officials, as well.
A Joint Logo was also launched to memorialize 70 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Thailand. Aside from the Joint Logo, a video with the title, ‘7 Decades – 7 Milestones’ was launched, too.
Even though Thailand and Pakistan were once members of the now-defunct Southeast Asia Treaty Organization, their traditional friendship remains steadfast. The military relations also persist to be robust, until today.
Education Sector
Roughly 250,000 Thai-Pakistani descendants reside in Thailand. Both countries also have a strong connection in the education sector.
Pakistani students rank the third-highest, at the Asian Institute of Technology, among the 1,607 students from almost 40 countries. Many Pakistani students have graduated from the institute.
Similarly, thousands of Thai students are also studying in Pakistan. Earlier a Green Cycling event was also organized by the Thai embassy to commemorate 70 years of cordial relations.
