Tokyo (TDI): The 10th Pakistan–Japan Private Sector Business Dialogue was held in Tokyo, bringing together senior business leaders, policymakers, and institutional representatives from both countries to advance bilateral economic cooperation and deepen private-sector engagement.
The Dialogue was co-chaired by Murtaza Mandviwalla, Chairman of the Pakistan–Japan Business Forum (PJBF), and Akira Terakawa, Chairman of the Japan–Pakistan Business Co-operation Committee (JPBCC).
A 26-member PJBF business delegation participated in the discussions, underscoring strong interest from Pakistan’s private sector.
The Dialogue was actively supported and facilitated by the JPBCC, reflecting Japan’s continued commitment to strengthening commercial ties with Pakistan.

Welcoming the participants, Abdul Hameed, Ambassador of Pakistan to Japan, emphasized the central role of trust, continuity, and result-oriented cooperation in expanding bilateral business relations.
He noted that sustained engagement between the private sectors of both countries is essential for translating longstanding goodwill into tangible economic outcomes.
The Ambassador also highlighted the importance of institutional linkages and regular dialogue platforms in addressing challenges and identifying new areas of collaboration.
The keynote address was delivered by Rana Ihsan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Commerce and Industry.
In his remarks, he outlined Pakistan’s evolving economic approach, highlighting a strategic shift from trade-centric engagement to investment-led cooperation.
He emphasized Pakistan’s focus on developing joint value chains with Japanese partners, built on international standards, reliability, and a phased, practical approach to implementation.
Stressing Pakistan’s reform efforts, he encouraged Japanese businesses to explore opportunities in manufacturing, technology, energy, and services, where long-term partnerships could yield mutual benefits.

The Dialogue enabled open and constructive exchanges across a range of priority sectors, allowing participants to share perspectives on market access, investment climate, technology transfer, and human resource development.
Business leaders from both sides discussed ways to enhance collaboration through joint ventures, skills development, and innovation-driven partnerships, while also identifying mechanisms to improve information-sharing and reduce operational barriers.
Participants reaffirmed their shared commitment to long-term business collaboration and expressed confidence that closer private-sector engagement would contribute to broader economic stability and growth.
The Dialogue concluded with a consensus on maintaining regular interaction and follow-up to ensure continuity and momentum.
The 10th Pakistan–Japan Private Sector Business Dialogue once again demonstrated the vital role of the private sector in strengthening bilateral relations and paving the way for a more investment-driven, sustainable, and future-oriented economic partnership between Pakistan and Japan.
